Opening: North Park and Copper Box
The Park will begin to come to life with the first major opening of a sporting venue – the Copper Box.
The first significant milestone in the Park’s transformation will be the opening of the Copper Box and a section of the North Park. This will happen in Summer 2013.
In the Copper Box, customers will be able to take part in or watch a vast array of sports. These will include basketball, wheelchair basketball, handball, volleyball, netball, judo, fencing, table tennis, badminton, gymnastics and taekwondo. There will also be a health and fitness gym, exercise studios and a café for the local community. When not hosting sporting events the Copper Box will be used for a variety of events - from a concert or comedy show to a corporate dinner.
The North Park includes the greener parklands surrounding the waterways and the commercial business district of the Press and Broadcast Centres. When it opens it will be a great introduction to the tranquil green spaces that will make up much of the Park.
